Hundreds camp out at Northern Kentucky liquor store

Hundreds of die-hard bourbon fans camped outside of a Northern Kentucky liquor store overnight, hoping to be among the first to get a taste of a rare bottle released once a year.

Pappy Van Winkle went on sale Thursday morning at Party Source, a large liquor and party-goods store in Bellevue.

Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve is regarded as one of the finest bourbons in the world. The rare bourbon is made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Pappy Van Winkle is aged for 15, 20, or 23 years. A 15-year bottle sold for $67.95, a 20-year bottle sold for $125.99 and a 23-year bottle sold for $221.99.
