What is Pappy Van Winkle

Pappy Van Winkle is a high end demand bourbon whiskey founded by Julian Pappy Van Winkle, Sr. that's distilled and bottled by the Sazerac Com at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The bourbon is made from corn and aged in oak barrels for taste. Wheat is used instead of the traditional rye, which makes Van Winkle very unique.

There are several years of the bourbon including:

  • 15 Year - 107 PROOF, $79.99 MSRP
  • 20 Year - 90.4 PROOF, $129.99, MSRP
  • 23 Year - 95.6 PROOF, $249.99 MSRP
As Chef Currence said, "There's Pappy Van Winkle, then there's everything else"

Pappy Van Winkle has won many awards and is constantly rated number one with bourbon lovers everywhere.

  • The San Fran World Spirits voted the 20 year old family reserve a double gold medal
  • Wine & Spirits magazine named the 23 year old family reserve "Spirit of The Year"
  • International Wine & Spirit Competition honored 20 year old family reserve with a trophie for worldwide whisky
  • The Beverage Testing Institute gave Pappy a score of 99/100 in 2008, making it the hightest rating ever
According to FOX News as well as Maxim Magazine, PVW 23 year old is the most expensive bourbon the market. If you get a chance to purchase a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle, Pappy Van Winkle, or anything from the Buffalo Trace Family I strongly encourage you to do so.
